Try this when you're feeling stuck

A client this week shared her stress about entering a new season with her daughter who is newly graduated from college.

"What is my new role?"

She was feeling stuck in figuring out who to be in this new season.

Sometimes the daughter wants her support and sometimes she doesn't.

My client was feeling overwhelmed looking at the big picture trying to figure out THE new role.

And she was feeling stuck trying to find the one right way.

Some questions we explored...

What if there isn't a specific new role?

What if it fluctuates?

What if it's not "set in stone?"

What if, with each situation, her role might be different?

I had her 'try on' a question that created a lot of relief for her.

And if you're feeling stuck in a situation or you're in a transition, maybe it can support you too.

In each connection with her daughter, she's going to ask the following question to herself.

"In this moment, what is my role?" or "In this moment, who do I want to be?"

Instead of trying to go so far ahead to find the "permanent" resolution and the "right" way...

...what if we approach it situation by situation?

With the ever-fluctuating, ever-changing needs, seasons, and circumstances...

your role may be ever-fluctuating and ever-changing too.

"Who do I want to be in this moment?" can help us focus not on finding the right way for all of time but instead to focus on what's right in front of us for this moment.

p.s. One of the things I love most about coaching is holding space for the women I serve; holding a non-judgmental, curious, loving space to explore what's not working for them, what they'd like to change (emotional eating, overwhelm, stress, negative self-talk, chronic dieting, putting themselves on the back burner), so they are able to show up in their lives the way they truly want to. More freedom. More calm. More loving. More present. In our coaching sessions we explore this together. What does this look like? What is getting in the way? What do you think the problem is? What do you think the solution is? Coaching offers you a space to answer these questions and provide a framework to help you achieve what you are looking for. What are you looking for?
